City vs Bush - Can they coexist? How often do we consider the effects that building our houses, hospitals, schools and roads might have on our environment? How can we build our home, village, or city in a way that respects our natural environment as well animals and other people?
In the Bush Builders workshop, kids will consider these questions to guide the construciton of their very own sustainable shelter using only natural and repurposed materials.
Kids will then work in groups of 2-5 to build their shelter using a mixture of natural and recycled materials. This includes sticks, branches and foliage found on the ground, as well as rope, canvas material and other repurposed / found objects (supplied by facilitator).
Through this 'world-building' workshop, kids will have develep an understanding of the benefiets and impacts of sustainable design on our environment, while negotiating important constrution decisions with groupmates in a team environment.
